I say my Led Zep act has “grownup” & is a teenager now. I started out with the idea to do a legit zep tribute band while playing in the Key West Rock Band called DWC STRAIN (the house band for the restaurant/music venue) themed after it’s multi-season famous HOTROD muscle car TV show. David Warren was drumming AND lead singing for that band – and we played an increasingly high majority of Led Zep sets upon the sheer amount of bulk requests.
Now I say “It” (my KEY WEST Led Zep tribute band idea) had grown into the Florida Keys Led Zeppelin Tribute Band (thanks to Cliff Rydell for imagining, executing & producing this movie about the Making of a real tribute band in the keys) This helped with my band’s transition into adolescence. Meaning it’s grown from simply the Key West Led Zeppelin Tribute Band to a full scale FLORIDA KEYS Led Zeppelin tribune band.
Like the Vikings we sing about in our opening song – “The Immigrant Song“. I plan on “claiming” the Keys territory with my Zeppelin Act by working hard enough to become the best at doing it!!
I can’t wait to meet you all again when it’s all grown up and playing somewhere like Key West Arena shows in the near & continuing future.
For booking private parties or corporate events pls leave message for Jamie or I (Wayne Sorbelli) at our Island Guitar Music store in Key West. Thanks 305-414-8056
What have I been doing for fun during the Covid-19 pandemic? I’ve been polishing up my USA Gibson, Dean, Fender, & Martin guitars, Dunlop Johnny Winter pinky slide, cry baby & delay effect pedals, violin bow & bow rosin – & some of Led Zeppelin’s greatest hits & most requested songs – all in preparation for starring as the guitarist of a Led Zeppelin tribute band born in Key West & the Florida Keys in a movie about “The Making of a Tribute Band in the Florida Keys.”
Seeing this picture of me at a show before the covid-19 pandemic & it’s causing the shutting down of the Florida Keys’ music venues, & having not done a show in public in what seems like forever, I am very anxious to be back in that element – with a drum kit behind me, smoke machine at my side & guitar in hand!! Marathon Country Club, Marathon Florida, here we come!!! – as the Key West Led Zeppelin Tribute Band
For more info the Key West Led Zeppelin tribute band or to book us for a show, private party or corporate event, please Contact Wayne or Jamie Sorbelli at our music store Island Guitar aka Bone Island Music, in the Kmart plaza Shopping Center in the center of Key West. Greetings Wayne here! I sure hope everyone is staying inside, brushing the dust off their ukuleles and guitars and getting busy on them while doing your part to say inside and stay safe and help stop the spread of COVID19 virus. Unfortunately all UKEOUT jam sessions, ukulele open mic nights, and the Monthly Green Parrott Ukulele Orchestra Meeting Night is canceled APRIL 2020 and until notice. Pleased check back.
In order to pass the quarantine “state-of-settle-in” time easier and maybe even with some benefits and true life satisfaction and overall happiness increase, i’m pulling out the old guitars and musical instruments and taking advantage of the time instead of sitting around crying about being locked in.
I’ve got live 1-on-1 SKYPE ZOOM and FACETIME lesson spots open 30 minute or 1 hour. Now is abetter time than ever to give it a try or pick up where you left off – weather it was right before quarantine or not since you where in college – time to get back to it – its the perfect time .
I teach any size Ukulele, banjolele, Uke Bass, acoustic electric or nylon string guitar, Bass guitar, or Cigar Box Guitar or any other stringed home made guitar type instrument. I specialize in slide guitar in regular standard tuning listen to and love everything from Abba to BBKing, Hank Williams to ZZTop, Metallica to SRV and all between.
Hi friends. I hope everyone is staying safe by staying in during the covid19 virus outbreak.
I find myself playing a ton of ukulele and guitar during all of this – I hope to see you all in person at the Green Parrot ukulele open mic night as soon as this virus passes through and its safe to gather together once again – I sure am missing people and contact and hugs.
If you already play ukulele or are just starting out and would like some beginner to advanced ukulele and even slide or bass uke lessons, please get in touch with me personally or through my store.
different sizes of ukulele chart below:
TUNINGS: Standard (most common) Soprano, Concert and Tenor are all tuned the same way gCEA although you can use other tunings on a tenor but it doesn’t work very well in baritone tuning, which is DGBE like the highest pitched (skinniest) four strings of a guitar. There is also a Bass Uke that is tuned just like a bass guitar to the same tuning and pitch EADG.
The Concert size ukulele is the world’s favorite and most commonly played and purchased – with it’s smaller brother soprano coming in second.
Thanks to my friend Ralph De Palma and his eagle eye, for capturing such amazing photos! Check out his website & portfolio!
Afterwards talking with the band, we agreed that we all had such an amazing fun time and felt the spirit of Christmas around us the entire night! It was true Christmas Magic from first note until the curtains closed.
With an eclectic pool of musicians drawing from distant corners of the musical universe, puddling together as the Christmas Rocks Band! – each bringing an almost comic book style super power to our not so round, more “Key West Oblong” shaped table laying the soundtrack for a fun mix of super rock classic hits & legendary Christmas & holiday favorites.
A Vision by lead singers Joe Tripp & Destiny Montgomery, musically arranged by Larry Smith on Piano & vocals, Joe Dallas on Bass, Wayne Sorbelli & Marshall Morlock on guitar duties, Skipper Kripitz on drums, Christine Cordone-Smith singing. Special guest Zack Seemiller singing and strumming his Key West holiday original favorite – Conch Christmas!
