“Bone Island” Music – “Bone Island” or the original Spanish name “Cayo Hueso” (Bone Island) was the original name of Key West BEFORE English speaking settlers came into the picture when the name then began to change from being pronounced “Cayo Hueso”, to eventually being pronounced “Key West” – So Bone Island Music – Cayo Hueso Musica – or Key West Music – you get it right? So we like to call all of our friends, musicians, clubs, conch rockers and music loving fans the “Bone Island Music Crew”
Greetings Wayne here! I sure hope everyone is staying inside, brushing the dust off their ukuleles and guitars and getting busy on them while doing your part to say inside and stay safe and help stop the spread of COVID19 virus. Unfortunately all UKEOUT jam sessions, ukulele open mic nights, and the Monthly Green Parrott Ukulele Orchestra Meeting Night is canceled APRIL 2020 and until notice. Pleased check back.
In order to pass the quarantine “state-of-settle-in” time easier and maybe even with some benefits and true life satisfaction and overall happiness increase, i’m pulling out the old guitars and musical instruments and taking advantage of the time instead of sitting around crying about being locked in.
I’ve got live 1-on-1 SKYPE ZOOM and FACETIME lesson spots open 30 minute or 1 hour. Now is abetter time than ever to give it a try or pick up where you left off – weather it was right before quarantine or not since you where in college – time to get back to it – its the perfect time .
I teach any size Ukulele, banjolele, Uke Bass, acoustic electric or nylon string guitar, Bass guitar, or Cigar Box Guitar or any other stringed home made guitar type instrument. I specialize in slide guitar in regular standard tuning listen to and love everything from Abba to BBKing, Hank Williams to ZZTop, Metallica to SRV and all between.
Hi friends. I hope everyone is staying safe by staying in during the covid19 virus outbreak.
I find myself playing a ton of ukulele and guitar during all of this – I hope to see you all in person at the Green Parrot ukulele open mic night as soon as this virus passes through and its safe to gather together once again – I sure am missing people and contact and hugs.
If you already play ukulele or are just starting out and would like some beginner to advanced ukulele and even slide or bass uke lessons, please get in touch with me personally or through my store.
different sizes of ukulele chart below:
TUNINGS: Standard (most common) Soprano, Concert and Tenor are all tuned the same way gCEA although you can use other tunings on a tenor but it doesn’t work very well in baritone tuning, which is DGBE like the highest pitched (skinniest) four strings of a guitar. There is also a Bass Uke that is tuned just like a bass guitar to the same tuning and pitch EADG.
The Concert size ukulele is the world’s favorite and most commonly played and purchased – with it’s smaller brother soprano coming in second.

Hi it’s Wayne Sorbelli here from Island Guitar music store down here in Key West Florida. So far so good in the keys. No corona virus cases yet as of the time I post this that we know about. We are closed to any walk-in business. We are taking phone orders in which you can pay over the phone then i can walk the musical gear and supplies out the front door to your car or bike. This system had served us very well the last few days as we’ve been able to place instruments in the hands of many smart people and their children.
In the months coming we will all be stuck inside. It’ll be a better sentencing if we have an instrument in our hands and at our disposal and are signed up for some 1-one-1 FaceTime, Skype or Zoom lessons with me, or one of our teachers.
Call 305-414-8056 pls leave a voice message if we can’t answer it means we are probably giving a lesson and will return call to you ASAP as we may be teaching.
Before I start teaching guitar and ukulele lessons today at my music store in Key West, I came in early to change the strings and do an action set-up on this USA GIBSON LES PAUL electric guitar. This is one of my favorite type of guitars of all time. It’s as iconic and epic as the rock & blues hero’s of mine that played them – like Jimmy Page, Freddie King, Johnny Winter, Keith Richards, Joe Walsh (who gave Jimmy Page his first Les Paul), Jeff Beck, Slash, Joe Perry, Zak Wylde, Billy Gibbons, Bob Marley, Peter Frampton, Duane Allman, Dicky Betts, Warren Haynes, Eric Clapton, and many more.
I put on a set Ernie Ball Super Slinky Electric Guitar Strings better know as a “pack of pinks” and tuned it to standard tuning. Lower the action down to a mere breeze. The pick up height needed to be adjusted. The neck pickup was much louder than the bridge pickup. Now it’s set where I like it a little hotter on the bridge pickup than at the neck or middle.
Mmmmmmmmmm time to go plug in and play it for a while – then head into the lesson studio and tell my students about these awesome guitars and people who play them ALL while learning music theory and applying it to the instrument – the holy grail of sonic expression – THE GUITAR.
Have a great day!!
