Playing Key West Blues Fest SOLD OUT was one of the best musical experiences I’ve had.

1st Key West Blues Festival 2019 Karri Daley & Wayne Sorbelli

SOLD OUT blues show at the Key West Theater!!!! May 25th, 2019

I’m so happy to share the stage with some of my musical peers Tim Marshall Curtis, Andy Westcott, Rick Fusco, Bobby DeVito, Daryl Brooke, Francois Gehin, Henry Lysy Jr., Randy Morrow, Michelle Dravis, Karri Daley, and even a few of my musical heros like Ericson Holt, one of the greatest living piano playing songwriters IN THE WORLD and blues legend slide guitar slinger and songwriter Bill Blue!!!!

For sure one of the musical highlights in my life so far is to have shared the stage with Ericson Holt and Bill Blue!!!! Another 2 notches on the belt! Another strike off the bucket list.

I want to thank the promoter Joel for having faith in this blues festival idea. I can’t say anything more than my friends already have. Here is what some of them are saying about the show:

Guitarist/singer Rick Fusco who played lead guitar in the Andy Westcott band said on Facebook:

“Key West’s Local Musicians Blues Festival – Thank You Huellas de Lobos!

What an awesome and successful event!

Friends and family, the guy who orchestrated this from inception (Huellas de Lobos) he had an idea and he was very genuine and enthusiastic and I don’t think anyone who truly see’s this individual’s spirit would argue that his heart is in the right place. He comes to see and support local musicians and he apparently hears Blues influence and perhaps, its as simple as him wanting to see what could happen with the musicians he approached and those who joined forces to make it a success! I was honored to be a part of this! Looking forward to next years show!

Ericson Holt, 🎩🎩🎩 Off!! We cant thank you enough! Your musical gifts alone are to be experienced by the masses! Your willingness and ability to pull this show all together was no easy task! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! KEY West Theater Owners and Staff, Thank You!

The Andy Westcott Band! Thank you to my band mates Andy Westcott, Hiram Garzaro and Henry Lysy Jr! Always a pleasure doing what we do when we do it! Looking forward to the future of this band!

Thank you Ben Solove and Dave & Kimberly Jacobs Solove of “The Dirty Pig” Blues & BBQ for the food and support!

Thank you Key West Friends And Family for your attendance for a “Sold Out Show”

See ya again soon!

Radio personality and local celebrity blues guru Ben Solove said on Facebook: Wow!!! What a show at the majestic Key West Theater tonight. The First Annual Key West Blues Festival went off beautifully and to a packed house, sold out crowd. Kudos to promoter Huellas de Lobos for pulling off a great night! So many phenomenal musicians were a part of this incredible show.

Bassist Of Andy Westcott Band among others, Henry Lysy Jr., said on his Facebook after rehearsals earlier that day: Soundcheck, check. From what I saw today the Blues festival is not only going to be fun but will also be displaying some of the best musicians around. I’m honored to share the stage with this talented lineup.

I believe there’s a few tix left, so get em before they are gone.

Ralph De Palma author/photographer of the world famous “Soul of Key West” and “Soul of Havana” book series said on his Facebook: The 1st ANNUAL KEY WEST BLUES FESTIVAL was a spectacular and SOLD OUT event and is destined to be a huge new component of the Key West music scene. This one is real everyone in the audience could feel the same vibe. Wish we would have recorded it. Next year we get even more of our local artists in a real Key West Blues Festival with more of our local artists and their original Blues. I loved every minute, filled up all my memory cards, Paul Blatt and I have tons of photos coming but it will take a while to post. Great show I’d list all the names to thank but it would be extensive. All of our local artists really brought there “A” game. Everyone in the audience left with the same feeling and can’t wait for the 2nd ANNUAL KEY WEST BLUES FESTIVAL.

New strings on this acoustic rental guitar & a small neck adjustment to lower the action and now it plays and sounds great!

After picking up one of our rental guitars from one of the most popular Key West resorts on my way home from our family music store, Island Guitar (home of the Bone Island Music Crew) I decided to give this baby a little attention and some periodic love and affection.

So I headed to my work bench and took the old strings off. I cleaned then conditioned the fretboard before putting on the new strings. (It’s much easier and you’ll do a much better job while the strings are off!)

Then I gave the entire guitar a good cleaning and polish front and back.

Now it sounds so much better with the new strings it’s unbelievable. Dead strings can really kill a guitar’s tone, sustain, and intonation. Dead strings sound BAD. Not only playing hours count towards a string’s death – but also time alone makes them die. Strings have a shelf life once strung. Period.
