Wayne Sorbelli here @ Island Guitar Key West playing some G blues with my glass finger – I call it “G String Blues”
Johnny Winter inspired me to pick up and try to play slide guitar a long time ago, then years later Derek Trucks re-ignited my passion for it.
This is my 1994 Gibson Les Paul Custom that I purchased brand new, but one year old, in 1995.
It was signed by Warren Haynes not long after I bought it, then the Master Slide Legend Johnny Winter a few years later!!
I ‘m stringing it as I usually do – with size 10-46 Strings.
I’m not too partial to one brand or the other at the moment, as I see great qualities in a few brands and go back and forth depending on the tone I’m shooting for, or the mood I’m in. GHS, Dunlop, Ernie Ball and DR are my go to favorites.
I tune it Standard Low to High EADGBe and sometimes Drop D for slide or finger playing.
Overall for feel and tone, I prefer using glass over metal slides – when I do want the CRISPY SHIVERS of metal on metal sliding, I prefer Brass to chrome.
You can try to play the blues, or just give in and let the blues play you! That’s IT! It’s THAT little struggle, THAT split second tension right there between me and my guitar and those unconscious note choices that are happening when the notes start to play me, to me, THAT IS THE BLUES” – Wayne Sorbelli

NEW Pink Floyd Ukulele Slide Comfortably Numb first solo by Wayne Sorbelli at Island Guitar Music Store in Key West Florida.
I stayed after a day of teaching guitar and ukulele lessons at my music shop in Key West and decided to play along to some Pink Floyd backing tracks that I have. Pink Floyd has long been one of my favorite bands, and David Gilmour one of my all-time favorite guitarists! The way he bends and shakes the notes gives his guitar a human vocal quality that very few guitarists can achieve. One of my favorite guitar solos of all-time is Gilmour’s first solo on Comfortably Numb – so I thought it’d be appropriate for my new experiment – Can I play this epic famous solo with my glass finger slide on my guitar? Then, when reaching for my guitar I saw my ukulele sitting there and decided I’d give it try on the tiny baby guitar like instrument instead? lol Why Not? – then I thought it would cool to try with my glass finger slide ON THE UKULELE!
I’m glad I did!!!
