Ukulele Camp 2018 is at the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden located at 5210 College Rd, Key West, FL 33040 on Stock Island.
We are excited to be planning the best music summer camp experience ever for 2018!
By popular demand, everyone will focus on the ukulele as the main camp instrument but we will explore electric and acoustic guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, steel pans and more. We encourage every child to try several different instruments before spending a lot of their time with one.
Our goal is to provide a professional musical learning environment through special tools, equipment, experience, knowledge, live examples, performances and guest speakers. These guided hands-on experiences help campers discover new likes and hidden talents while building the best summer camp experience ever.
This is a Luna “Hono UKE” or Turtle Soprano Ukulele. Island Guitar Key West and Dallas both have them in stock again (sorry to those who tried to order last week – but we can’t keep these solid mahogany turtle ukes from flying off the shelves)
Luna’s HONU Soprano Ukulele takes its design from traditional Hawaiian body ornamentation. The designs were monochromatic, tattooed in black against brown skin. The patterns and layout were strongly geometric and there were many shapes and symbols which represented the natural island world:stones, waves, fish, sharks, turtles, rain, sun, birds. This design is based on a Hawaiian turtle (honu), a symbol of longevity and endurance rendered in a Polynesian tattoo style. The fret markers are stylized sharks teeth.
Play Uke – Be Happy!
Oh, and did I mention they come with the FREE soft Gig Bag and are on Sale!!

Soprano: Tuning: GCEA, ADF#B
Concert (or Alto): Tuning: GCEA (re-entrant), GCEA (linear (tune G down an entire Octave))

Wayne Sorbelli here at my music store in Key West jamming some blues in Am using my glass slide finger and Luna Cedar Top Ukulele.
I’m in standard soprano ukulele tuning GCEA.
I didn’t change anything about the uke, it’s a regular setup on an off the shelf Luna Cedar Top ukulele with nylon strings.
I’m sliding with my pinky wearing a glass slide Dunlop 212.
“You can try to play the blues, or just give in and let the blues play you! That’s IT! It’s THAT little struggle, THAT split second tension right there between me and my guitar and those unconscious note choices that are happening when the notes start to play me, to me, THAT IS THE BLUES” – Wayne Sorbelli
